A message in a bottle sent 108 years ago, has been found on a beach on the German island Amrum in the Northern Sea. The discovery was made by the pensioner Marianna Winkler. The message was to be sent to the British Marine Biological Association and there was a 1 shilling award for the founder.

The association stated that there are around 1000 similar messages sent between 1904 and 1906, as a part of a study about the sea currents. As promised in the message itself, the Marine Biological Association informed the public that the reward was sent to Winkler.

This is the oldest message in a bottle ever found by someone. The previous record was held by a 99 years old message, that was found in 2013 on the Shetland islands.
